Ely Cathedral & Anglesey Abbey

Ely cathedral has its origins in the 7th century when St Etheldreda built an Abbey church. The current church was begun in 1083 and was granted cathedral status in 1109. It was completed in 1375.

It is 537 ft long and has a fine central Octagonal tower. It truly is an amazing building.

This is Oliver Cromwell's house. You know the one who was Lord Protector of England when we were a republic. Today it is the tourist information centre.

So on to Anglesey Abbey...... I didn't realise it until I got there but the last time I was there was the day dad passed away.

The dahlia's were looking fine!

It is getting Autumnal

So sorry Pete I forgot to comment on this post. Ely cathedral looks awesome - there is so much to do there and I've been thinking it looks a good place for a weekend break. Wonderful photos of the cathedral and Anglesey Abbey.
