Tredegar

Tredegar is a Charles II mansion on the outskirts of Newport. For a five hundred years it was the home of the Morgan's until they left in 1951, unfortunately it was stripped of its contents. In 1974 it was bought by Newport Council and in 2012 the National Trust undertook a 50 year lease (yep another addition for NT Scones ;) ) It is currently undergoing a 10 year restoration.  Unfortunately on my visit the house was under a tarpaulin to repair the roof.

The shop ... not your normal NT shop eh!

other birds seen but not photographed? Chiffchaff, Goldcrest and Treecreeper. (I thought it was going to rain so just took the a compact!!)

The scone which didn't deserve a duck, too dry, but hey ho!

This is the grave of a horse, Sir Briggs, who survived the charge of the light brigade.

OI!! Where's the house!!

The parterre was put in in the 1970's and the trust asking if it is appropriate or should they restore to an earlier point..... all I will I say is I quite like it

The house would make the picture eh!

Clarence was promised a dalek (which as disappeared since NT Scones visited in 2015) a nice gate was not a fair swap.

Although he approved of this!

Hello a painted Lady!

No idea what this is!

Now I NEVER expected to see a Hummingbird Hawk Moth

Good day! No idea what tomorrow will bring ! I have two options and the weather will be the decider!

Such a shame about the scaffolding but looks a super house and garden :) Love the replica (am assuming a replica) stone circle and well done on the hummingbird hawkmoth (me jealous - never!!) :) The strange plant looks like a triffid. Not sure myself about the parterre - certainly very different.

Tell Clarence there is a dalek in the Doctor Who Shop in Ryde on the Isle of Wight :)
