Churches, Allan Bank & Grasemere

In the words of my dad it's hot!!

843 St Wilfrid's, Brougham

844 St Michaels, Lowther

Lowther Castle

Some views

So on arrival at Grasmere lunch! Prawn and Salmon sarnie!!

And so to Allan Bank where alas NO SCONES

Allan Bank was home to both William Wordsworth and Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley one of the founders of the National Trust (also see Wray Castle the other day)

The house was tenanted until a fire in 2011 gutted it. Today it is not presented as other NT properties you just wander and can sit where you like. You can take your cup of tea anywhere!

Nice views.

I am now in the bar with a pint!

Great pictures and lovely churches - the wooden carvings in the first one are beautiful. Although I've been to Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount I've never been to Allan Bank ( I need to return!!!) :)

Good to see you found Sarah Nelson's - hope you bought some gingerbread or is it too sugary?

I hope you enjoyed the pint and meal. I would imagine it is a little cooler up there - very very hot (unbearable) here!
