Madrid Botantic Gardens - Tasters

I passed the queues for the Prado and headed for the Botanic Garden.

In Italy these are always a little disappointing but this was quite good and there were lots of birds!

Mr Quacks showing young Diego how it is done...

Stock Dove

What the....... a Night Heron!!!

It got spooked by some tourists and flew to a nearby tree....

Mrs Mallard wanting some attention

Blackcap!

Monk Parakeet posing!

And so we left in search of food and then to the Atocha Station to get a ticket for Toledo,,,, boy was it a slow process.

Impressive tho....

and yes the above were in the station!

We finally found where the trains went from and headed back to the gardens to drink a Coke Zero.

Just as we sat a Great Spotted Woody flew over and a Treecreeper flew into the tree, I have a lousy photo but am waiting for confirmation as I have a feeling it is a Short-Toed Treecreeper.....

Half jokingly Trish suggested going to the pond to see if the Night Heron was still there and blow me down!!!!!

Good bit of birding!

Lovely gardens - the night heron would have been a highlight for me - never seen one!
