Ham House

I thought we were all due a change of view so as part of Ham House was open today I headed to West London.

Ham is situated on the Thames and it is a nice stroll...

It was murky which was atmospheric.....

Upon the opposite bank is Marble Hill house which is somewhere I KEEP saying I must visit.

Ham was built in 1610 and was in the hands of the Murray/Tollemache family from 1626 until it was given to the National Trust in 1948. William Murray, 1st Earl of Dysart was given Ham by Charles 1st. Dysart was Charles' whipping boy and close friend.

Well time for a cuppa and a nice Fruit Scone

 

Only a few rooms were open and it was by guided tour,,,, which was a good one.

We headed for lunch and alas the soup was empty :( but had a nice Sausage Roll instead.
