Day 1 - Sorrento

Previously I have only been to Northern Italy this was my first trip South! Also the Bay of Naples area is a more relaxed holiday area than I'm used to ........ but it is Iconic and had been on my must visit list.

The flight was at 6:05am!! Which meant even for me it was an early start still it was all trouble free and we soon were on the plane.....

We arrived at Naples airport in cloud...... hhhhhhmmmm and soon found the bus to Sorrento. The drive is interesting you start through Naples which obviously has some incredibly poor areas the drive along the coast is nice though with some spectacular views. 

You get dropped at the railway station in Sorrento (which is also where the buses to Positano and Amalfi go from) and went to find the hotel which was easy (I had a map) and only a 10 minute stroll.

We had soon deposited cases and was in need of food. Given the hotel had a restaurant and you could eat with views of Vesuvius and that the sun was shing that was the option! As it was the first day I ordered a bottle of prosecco :)

The hotel has a very pretty garden which had Hummingbird Hawk Moths. When I pointed one to Trish she spilt her wine!! Faints!  Oh and Lizards!

We decided to walk to one of two harbours this is the one the boats to Capri et al go from.

We headed back to the hotel for a first meal! Good day.
