Birding and Peckover House

Given the forecast wind where to? We headed North and stopped at Walkers Snack bar at Barton Mills for breakfast.... Sausage, Egg and Bacon roll...... delish!

The sun came out so we decided to go to Sculthorpe Moor but as we neared Fakenham the heavens opened but as we arrived at Sculthorpe it stopped but was blowing a gale! We left the cameras in the car and went for a walk.

I do like Sculthorpe it is always a nice walk and was a live with woodland birds. We soon started adding to the year list with Coal Tit, Marsh Tit we went on to see Bullfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch and Brambling, We came across huge Goldfinch flock which had a few Siskins in it.

On the stroll back I spotted a Lesser Redpoll.

We decided to pop into Flitcham Abbey Farm hoping to see a Little Owl but alas the Owls was AWOL!

Then on to Peckover House. Peckover is a Georgian merchants house.

The house was by guided tour which we decided against. First stop the tea room!

I had high hopes of the tea room as on a visit some years back I had the best NT sandwiches ever (not in those silly cartons but prepared and brought to your table). This time we had Carrot and Sweet Potato soup which was lovely! Skipped on the bread and shared a Stilton Scone and a Fruit Scone both were excellent it was the best cheese scone I've had!

The garden is small but it is lovely and I really must go back in Summer!

Beautiful house and gardens Pete. Lovely to see some snowdrops too as I haven't had chance to go looking for any yet this year.

Your scone photos always make me want to go into my kitchen and make some!!
