Flatford Mill

It was lovely yesterday but the forecast for today was not so good. Given the morning was best I headed out and went to Flatford Mill.

I needed a cup of tea and I was aware they take their scones seriously. The Scone Blog rates Flatford highly and as there were lots of signs for the Scone of the month so it would be rude not to....

Pumpkin Pie Scone

It wasn't bad actually a nice scone but not one I'd take over a standard fruit one....

The view from the cafe.....

The Mallards were out in force.....

I went for a stroll along the river, I would have walked to Dedham  but given the forecast I just went part way.

These two were the only ones keeping away from the main tourist bit !

I decided that for lunch I'd try a Fruit Scone. It was nice but lacking a bit of fruit and doesn't make my top 3.... which remains 1. Antony with honorable mentions to Lavenham Guildhall and Montacute.

The obligatory shot of Willy Lott's cottage

The area is lovely and for those who don't realise quite a bit of the above is in Essex...... a much maligned county :)

Oh and it rained on the way home....

Lovely photos Pete - looks so tranquil and peaceful there. Pumpkin scones sound interesting - may have a go at making some of those :)
