Felbrigg

And so today we went first to Cromer.

Cromer is a typical seaside town. For many of us it brings back memories of our childhood. A little cheap and cheerful like many seaside towns used to be. It still has its pier and there is still a show.

For the benefit of any non UK readers lots of seaside towns had a summer season with the theatres having a show.. The big seaside towns Blackpool, Bournemouth and Great Yarmouth for instance attracted major TV stars of the era. I once saw Mike and Bernie Winters at Bournemouth in about 1971 when they were big. Cromer of course was a small town and probably never attracted anyone big.

If it sounds like I have a downer on Cromer then I ought to add I don't. When I was a kid these towns were special because they had shops that had treasures you never found at home. They sold odd american comics or had book shops that never found their way to my home town. Today Cromer had a shop had that loads of back issues of the Victor, oh happy days.

The putting green.... one of my faves from my childhood....

Yep a cheapo amusement arcade....

Cromer church, the tallest tower in Norfolk.

That butcher again....

and the typical shop selling plastic tat!

And on to Felbrigg....

I left his nibs reading the paper and went for a walk around the lake.....

Sir joined me for a walk around the walled garden. The walled garden is particularly fine I think. I like the fact that part of it is used for allotments for local people.

Sir didn't fancy walking around the house so I left him sitting by the cafe....

When I came out I asked sir if he fancied a cup of tea. He rather shocked me by saying yes! I knew he wouldn't eat a whole piece of cake so we shared a rather nice piece of chocolate sponge cake. And he enjoyed both.... I am shocked!

I had seen a Painted Lady butterfly in the garden so armed with a longer lens.....

I saw a total of three painted ladies....

Anyway a super day. Felbrigg is a lovely place well worth a visit....

Lovely photos Pete and I especially like the butterfly shots :) Enjoyed your photos of Hunstanton and Holkham Hall too - lovely portrait of your Dad by the lake.
