In the footsteps of St Francis...

You can't visit the region without being aware of St Francis of Assisi and so visitors to the region flock to Assisi.

And so at 9:30 I found myself on an Italian bus...... now given this runs every day you'd think this should be uneventful but the driver apparently went wrong and did a U turn back to the Airport ah Italy....

A top its hill Assisi is a wonderful vista and something you don't see in the UK.

We hopped the bus and walked into town.

Piazza del Commune

And yes that does look like a Roman Temple

Under an open building....

This was by the tourist information office....

We wended our way to the Basilica di San Francesco

Stopping to take pictures of the view...

Hanging cats....

The Basilica. Alas no pictures inside so I can't show you pictures of the wonderful Giotto Frescoes. Trust me well worth seeing.

So we wandered back into town.

A Common Redstart.

Looking towards the Basilica di Santa Chiara

We would have gone in but the churches shut for lunch

We also went for our lunch at a very nice restaurant called Medioevo.

Whilst waiting for it to open I spotted.....

a Scarce Swallowtail! Very nice!

alas no photos inside the church.

The Duomo of San Rufino which DOES allow pics

cute dog

and so we went back to Perugia and went to the Basilica San Domenico

Off into town and Trish on the elevator

don't ask.....

ahem

typical pose

It was for two!
