Waxwings and Gardens

Trish is up to test a lens tomorrow.....

Now the word twitch is not something I normally do but I suggested to Trish that we might see if we could find some Waxwings......

The first possibility was empty so off towards Foxton in Cambridgeshire and along the road sitting in a tree were approx 20-25 ......

the light was lousy ...... so a few record shots....

As we turned on to the Foxton road 2 more were sat on the wires then another half dozen and by the time we reached Foxton village a bunch more.... result!

So where to ? Well off to Anglesey Abbey..... I like Anglesey there is always something to see and it is of interest throughout the year...

The Winter Box had a real scent to it.

Surprising to see bees in January.............

Some daffs showing.....

We headed into the cafe where the cake looked scrummy BUT I stuck to Leek & Potato soup and a cheese scone....

now as we sat the sun came out...... so we thought I wonder if the Waxwings are still there.....

So off we went ..... and though there were a lot less.....

Oh some lovely villages in the area.....

So back home via a stop at Rye Meads.....

lots of ducks with the highlights being a Green Sandpiper and Snipe....

What a good day you had! I'm so very envious of those Waxwings having spent some time before Christmas trying to find some which had been seen locally with no luck at all. Lovely pics of the Robin too and nice to see so much colour in your garden visit.

Wishing you a very Happy and Healthy New year Pete and to your Dad too. Hope you both had a good Christmas.

Sometimes lousy light allows great shots like the first two. You have a great eye.

Well done with the Waxwings Pete.
Amazing to see bees in January. Let's hope there's a lot more to come this year.

Wonderful shots Pete. It looks like spring over there. I envy you. It will be months before we see a bee. Months before we see a flower too.
