Having a Pee

I read an article the other day about whether it was ok to Urinate in public.

Actually it came about after a a couple in Somerset tried to force their local council to close a lay-by near their home which passing motorists regularly used for open-air "comfort breaks".

Lord Justice Ward at the Court of Appeal (how did it get that far?) ruled that the urinating drivers' impact was not "cumulatively intolerable" because they were not "obviously visible" from the couples home, according to reports.

Now this in an interesting one. I've seen parents in the middle of a town pull there kids pants down and let them pee in the street and frankly I can't understand it (just nip into one of the many shops that have a toilet). We've all seen drunks do it and I guess have looked disgustingly at them.... but.....

Raymond Boyd Martin, managing director of the British Toilet Association says

It's always anti-social, it has to be wrong in this day and age. There's no reason in the 21st Century we should have to do this.

If you are making a journey you should be planning where and when you are going to stop - in restaurants, in hotels or in petrol stations.

At the end of the day it's about decency. This is someone exposing themselves in a public place

but come on how many of us haven't found ourselves miles from the nearest toilet and felt overcome......? Really?  I'll stick my hand up and say I have. Especially when you are driving I would imagine it's a damn sight safer to nip behind a bush/hedgerow than and try and find a toilet (especially if you are in the middle of the country).

My guidelines are, you are out of sight of the road and  not near houses.

On the whole I agree with you and it's def easier for some than others when hiding behind a bush!!

However, kids are notorious for leaving it to the last minute to tell parents that they need to pee... any foray to find a proper loo, in these circumstances, would prove it to be too late!

I have to agree that if you are out of sight of the road and not near houses, go for it. Sometimes it just can't be helped.

Ever since I have to take diuretics for my heart, I find myself plotting possible bathroom stops on ANY road trip that's going to take more than 30 minutes. LOL
