Hatfield Forest and Wimpole Hall

For once an early start and I was over the Forest at around 7:15. There was lots of birdsong which was good to here.

There were lots of Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Green Woodpeckers and Nuthatches.

On the lake were a couple of male Wigeon and this Barnacle Goose.

There were also 4 Great Crested Grebes on the lake.

There are a couple of houses in the Forest.

So time for a cup of tea and a bacon sarnie!!

And so to Wimpole Hall...

We arrived in time for lunch which was a lump of cake :D The triple berry was nice !

Quite a few Snowdrops about....

A tour of the house....

Out into the garden.

Not sure why this little bear is here! Still it has a blanket!

There were a few bumbles about and a number of ladybirds.

Stopped of at the restaurant/cafe for a cuppa and a cheese scone. Lots of birds flitting about.

A lovely February day with a hint of Spring because as we were driving along there was a baby lamb in a field with Mum!

On #23 It would have been more fun if you included more of the lady with the blue plastic bag. Your focus on some of the flying birds is lovely. On some even their toe nails are visible.

Sounds like a lovely day out Pete. There are some beautiful trees in Hatfield Forest and I really like the photos with the reflections in the water.

Love the pics from Wimpole Hall - how do you get such great pics without flash (am assuming flash isn't allowed :D)? Oh and that little teddy bear is so cute. Great to see the bumbles out and about again too :D

So many great shots. What a house, wow. I really like the shots of the sea gull in flight. I think you did a smashing job capturing the wings. The trees and reflections are marvelous. I envy you the weather you're getting over there. It looks like spring is popping up all over.
