Visiting Gardens

Trish was up today which is rather odd as it didn't rain!!

We were heading for Gooderstone Water Gardens which neither of us had been to.

En route the car magically turned into Walker's snack bar so we could have a Sausage, Egg & Bacon roll and a cuppa!

There weren't many cars there (and there weren't when we left) which is a shame as it was delightful.

"Genius" at work.

although the tea room was tempting we were both a bit full so passed. The blogging world faints!

A few miles away was the National Trust Oxburgh Hall - the car park was chocker!

They had a scarecrow exhibition on.

Well it felt like time to eat. We couldn't decide on cake so we ordered a Harvest cake and Coffee Walnut and cut in half - very nice!

Inside the chapel.

The parish church, its tower collapsed in 1948 (I think).

The water gardens are beautiful. I'd love to wander around there. I love those toadstools behind the orange flowers. Enjoyed the scarecrows as well. Love the monk leaning against the tree, but, but, you do tease me terribly with things you know I REALLY like....ie: the skull on the wall in the church. Nick it and send it over, will ya!

ps: What a great shot you got of Tricia.

As you say, the weather was kind! perhaps miracles do happen after all.

Great day out and Gooderstone was magical... a surprise around every corner. Walkers and, later on, the cake is also worth a mention and thank you for a rather delish dinner..

A very relaxing time.... :)

Oh and the pictures aren't bad either ;)

Lovely photos, Pete. The Water Gardens look delightful and the scarecrows are wonderful. The monk one looks rather scary though! Sounds like you both had a great day.

Gooderstone water gardens are beautiful aren't they. We last went there last spring, and must go again soon. That church always fascinates me .. being mostly just a shell, and Pixie liked going into the little chapel (she's quite a devout little doggy). You've chivvied me on to visit Oxborough Hall, is it worth a visit? It always looks lovely from the road .. with my nose pressed up against the railings!! :-) Cindy

Hi Cindy

Oxburgh is worth a visit. The gardens aren't amazing but combined with a trip around the house makes for a nice visit. There are some estate walks as well.

The cake in the House Team Room was nice :D

Are you a member of the NT? worth it for a year to visit Oxburgh, MElford Hall, Ickworth, Peckover, Felbrigg and Blickling!

Pete
