Croome Park and Court

I wandered into Pershore this morning to have a nose around the church but I thought "someone" would like these.

The church was a priory and today just the chancel remains.

And so on to the National Trust's Croombe Park. Croome Court has been ill treated over the years. It was on a special school, Hari Krishna centre and private appartments. The house is now in the hands of a charitable trust who have leased it to the trust for 10 years (too short surely?) and the park is in the trusts hands. The church designed by Capability Brown (who designed the park) is in the hands of the Churhes Conservation Trust.

The trust are raffling this Morgan.

The language of the fan?....

Lots of goldfinches about.

So after lunch (veggie soup) I went for another stroll.

peakaboo!!

Oh there were 5 baby coots on the island in the lake and the cake was Victoria Sponge (they had sold out of choc cake :( )

Some more lovely places to visit.
The wooden carvings are amazingly detailed; must be very skilled craftsmen/women - beautiful.

Great view looking down the nave of the church with the purple and lilac banners hanging.

Croombe Park looks interesting; another new one to me. 10 years is hardly anything if it's to be brought back to what it was - and I hope it is.

And lovely pictures again...

Lovely photos again, Pete. Looks like you had another great day. Did you buy a raffle ticket for that rather nice Morgan?

Someone does like "those", lol. In the box with them. Your churches never cease to amaze me. Such beauty inside. As to that Morgan, if you can't steal it, at least I hope you've bought a ticket on it. What a beauty.

I had to come back and mention that statue of Pan and the rock "wall" that looks like it might be a grotto....well, I'd love to have something like that here. One can only dream.
