Return of a Dainty Blue

The Dainty Blue Damselfly went extinct after the coastal floods of 1952/3 when it was washed away from its single East Anglian Pond.

The Dainty Blue has recently established itself in Belgium, been documented in Holland and last year was found in Jersey.

This year the Dainty Blue has been observed in a pond in Kent.

It is assumed that they've caught a lift on a southerly breeze and come across the English Channel.

Whether they've bred we don't next year observers will be keeping a look out.
