So this is the agenda for this year.

Just after Easter I'll be heading to Wiltshire staying at the Coppleridge Inn Motcombe, Things to see? Salisbury Cathedral and Wilton House plus a few NT houses maybe Longleat and the last church I need in Wiltshire,

In May I am "doing" Sussex staying at the Old Forge near Hailsham near Eastbourne been there before. and then on to the Horse & Groom East Ashling near Chichester. Highlights Bateman's (the home of Rudyard Kipling), Bodiam Castle, Chichester Cathedral, Parham House and the odd chuch in the West

In July we go FOREIGN. Well South Wales :D 3 nights at the Greyhound Inn, Llantrisant near Usk, 4 nights at the Falcon Hotel Carmarthen and back for a night at the Sloop Inn - LLANDOGO. Highlights? Loads of Castles including this, St David's Cathedral, some welsh churches and a house or two. Oh and there may be a trip to Skomer.

In August I'm heading to North Wales for more castle's, houses, cathedrals and churches. I'll be Staying @ the Lion Inn Gwytherin and then going to the Old Black Lion Hay-On-Wye for 3 nights.

I'll take Dad away for two weeks but until he has a clue about his eye op he doesn't want to book anything.

And at some stage I'll slip a trip to Norfolk in :D

It looks like you're going to have quite the time of it. Salisbury Cathedral looks awesome. Looking forward to pictures of your travels once again.

Hope you have a great time in Salisbury. If you haven't already, pop into the Odeon Cinema front hallway in New Canal. It's housed in an amazing medieval building... worth a look. Also the Haunch of Venison pub (near to the Poultry Cross) tiny pub, very, very old and atmospheric. While you are in the Cathedral close have a good look at the surrounding buildings. Gorgeous architecture and some real gems. I used to work at Wilton House the cube rooms are amazing and the Palladian bridge is worth a look (as are the fish in the Japanese garden!). Have fun. Jane

Hi Pete -

Found your blog via The Bigg Bird Forum (you may remember my wheatear!)

In case you wanted to see the Severn Bore, I checked the timetable - and there is only one on the late evening of 24th
http://www.severn-bore.co.uk/2009.htm

Sth Wales isn't too bad for birds - I saw two saw-bills 200 yds from my house today, which the chap in dark glasses identified as goosanders. But in the summer, there are cuckoos near the Treorchy ex-council tip to tempt you :-)
