The History of Civilization

So what to do today? I dragged myself out of bed stuck my camera in the bag and headed to London.

And so the British Museum. You walk around the place and you marvel at both the number, quality and age of the objects. Ooh look a 3000 year old greek marble, oh ancient Egyptian mummies, Saxon jewelery, a Roman Mosaic honestly its easy to get blase.

My feet are KILLING me. I do hope no one objects to a "few" photos :D

Not old but I rather like this.

An early one of Roger's OC?

I do love the British Museum! There's just so much to absorb too.

I see what you mean about the quantity of pictures! But great ones as usual.

Sorry about the feet Lol!

What wonderful things. A trip worth taking, wish I was there with you. Yeah, the head gear would look good on himself, lol.

The gold figure was modeled on kate moss i think.
Isn't it strange, all the objects behind glass! For good reason.

I know you don't like distant travel, but if you ever get the chance visit the art museum in Geneva (English widely spoken).
I was inches away from a Van Gough self portrait, no glass or guards. it looked like it was painted on a hessian sack, fantastic.
But the most impressive i have seen is asian sculpture/china(for want of a better word) a piece 2000 years old looked like it was made yesterday.
A brilliant museum of this type of art exists in corfu. English also widely spoken, mostly with a cockney accent!
just think in a thousand years time, people will marvel at the mass produced rubbish of today.

You can have an 'audio tour' in english! LOL LOL LOL

Thanks very much for taking us around at your tour in the British Museum, long time since I've been there. Love the 'old nurse' sculpture.

The British Museum is one of my favouritest places. They have the mosaic that was found in the field behind my house. It may even be that first one you snapped xxx
