yet more strange rural events

So you thought running down a 1 in 2 hill to catch a cheese was odd?

Well in Tetbury in Gloucestershire they run up and down a steep hill carrying a ruddy great sack of wool!!

at Witcham in Cambridgeshire they have a world peashooting championship. I have no footage but last year some chap had a laser guided pea shooter. You think I'm joking? there was footage on BBC's Countryfile Programme. I think I'm on holiday the weekend of the next championship or I might have gone and taken some photos!! What do you mean ANOTHER holiday?

There are loads of these strange events throughout the UK. It's a wacky old world.

But can anyone explain to me the joys of Morris Dancing?

There are various styles of Morris Dancing the one I most think of is the Cottswold style shown in the video.

Ha, ha, great stuff Pete. There is one thing I can think of that's done here. If you want to become a Newfoundlander, you can be "Screeched In". You have to drink a glass of our famous Newfoundland Screech, (rum).... and then kiss a Cod Fish. I do believe you get some sort of certificate after the ceremony. Tourists beware! lol

Pete ... I'm Bavarian, so the Morris Dancers look rather familiar to me ... Not only the dress but also a lot of their movements are very similar to the bavarian folk dance groups. LOL LOL LOL

No. I think it only exists to give the rest of us a jolly good laugh.
