The Return of the Dormouse

AS part of habitat management at Cumbria’s Grizedale Forest rangers have discovered a population of dormice.

Two years ago a collection of nest boxes were introduced into likely habitat and to provide alternate nest sites and give the mice warmth and shelter in an attempt to enhance the population.

Two adult and three young dormice have been found and it is hoped that the endangered mammal will continue to expand.

This is the official Forestory Commission press release with a cute pic!
