BBQ's

We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real' man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:

Routine...

(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with
the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is
lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

Here comes the important part:

(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine....

(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks
her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the
situation.

Important again:

(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

More routine....

(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces,
and brings them to the table.
(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:
(10) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed 'her night off.' And, upon
seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some
women....

What was that about?

So Mum comes home tomorrow. She'll have had one bout of physio, apparently they were talking about continuing at home. They are delivering a special bed but since she can't walk she'll be confined to the 1st floor which is where the toilets and washing facilities are.

She is more "with it" but she needs someone to work on her legs. She will pleased to be home BUT I hope Dad gets more support. I don't really see what they've achieved in the past week.

Mood - fed up.

and a nice lady

Ok so we've established that there are some nasty people around. But lets here it for Lorainne Jackson. We have read about the human cost of the floods but it has also affected wildlife and Lorainne is now looking after 80 Hogs who are struggling due to the floods in Hull!! Here is an interview on the BBC

Excuse me whilst I get angry

This story depresses me about my fellow humans.

Some total pond life shot a dog through the head TWICE with a crossbow bolt. Luckily the dog is recovering after surgery.

Sunday

So what have I done today?

Well cut the garden hedge this morning and then popped into see Mum. After lunch went down to Rye Meads. Saw a Water Vole on my way to Draper hide. Possibly 8 Green Sandpipers there. 4 at Draper hide and by the time I walked to Moorhen Hide there were 4 there. Also the Kestrels were flying. As I drove off past the toll I came across a Sparrowhawk with a dead Pigeon in the centre of the road. Wasn't too happy to see me.

Anyway the obligatory photos.

I'm thinking Migrant Hawker......

My Saturday

Well this morning I was being all financial!!! This afternoon I did some birding at Rye Meads and Amwell and this evening went to see Mum (I have been in before naturally). She seems brighter, feet still swollen though. She starts physio on Monday.

Anyway it was nice to get out this afternoon. I took a few photos. Ahem.

They are just images of my patch

I do like ducks!

Very posey Heron and the Kestrels haven't gone yet.
