Red Admiral Blog ;)

So where to today? Uh well I had various plans and yet the car ended up at Lackford Lakes!! There were no rarities but the weather was warm the skies were blue and my camera was clicking. Hope you lot like butterfly photos!!

Pete - which lens did you use for the butterfly and dragonfly pics?

ah right all Pics up to and including the Kingfisher were a Tamron 200-500

not ideal for flutters

up to and including the pink flower a Nikon 70-300VR (not sure about the butterfly immediately after)

and the rest a Sigma 150 Macro

giving all my lenses a try out.

The Tamron is not ideal, the focus is too distant. The 70-300 is fine for dragons and flutters but not for smaller insects.

The Sigma is superb for small insects and IF you can get close enough Dragons and flutters.
