Sunday 15th July

So i left the Forest today and headed to RSPB Arne in Dorset. I was greeted by this chap.

I was after a Dartford Warbler and one showed up but way to far for a photo. This is their habitat.

From the only hide....

At the feeding station...

So off to Kingston Lacy. The picture collection is first class, no idea HOW Mark Fisher left it out of Britain's Best Museums (it got in the appendix), Jenkins gives it *****.

A stroll around the gardens through up a Spotted Flycathcer

Well it started raining so I had a cuppa and a scone and butter and went and added St Mary, Iwerne to my church list (616) oh and another Spot Fly.

I went back to the Forest and no rain!! There is a maximum speed of 40 miles an hour and as you can see there is a reason Ponies rule!!

Fabulous photos Pete. I'd say, judging by the pictures, your holiday has been well worth while and only two days into it.

I was in this area last year, trully magical. We also had to stop our car for free roaming pigs (domestic).
I agree with you on Kingston Lacy, well worth the entrance money.

Lovely pony shots. Reminds me of the donkeys in Ireland. They just stand in the middle of the road and refuse to budge.

Now this really is my stamping ground. I live in between Kingston Lacy and Arne... My sister works at KL as a gardener, and I was at Arne yesterday. Looks like you only found one hide at Arne... next time try to go to Middlebere Heath... park at the farm and walk towards the water across the heath, you go past three hides on your way to the main hide which overlooks the harbour - stunning. I will blog about it later.
