Clare Castle Country Park.

As it was a lovely day I took the parents to Clare Castle Country Park.

Clare was the home of the Earl's of Clare. There was a Priory, a Castle and a fine Parish Church. The Castle and Priory are now ruins (although there is now an Augustinian Priory and the old Priory refrectory is now the Priory church.

The country park is what was the railway line.

I left the folks sitting by the river and you can have a tour. All photos taken with my little Canon Powershot A620 (and whisper it on auto with the exception of three photos).

The railway line

A Bug House

The following is super for insects in high summer. It is next to the bug house and there are two other bug houses in there.

Bit of macro.

What's left of the castle.

Goods yard.

The Priory

The Refrectory now church.

One of Edward I's daughers is buried near here.

Lots of common birds. Very few butterflies but some lovely Banded Demoiselles.
