The New Seven Wonders

New 7 wonders of the World are conducting a vote to elect 7 new wonders of the world. The original 77 nominations have been wittled down to a list of 21 (see below) and now we can vote for our top 7.

The original 7 wonders were
* Pyramid of Giza near Caïro in Egypt (+/- 4600 years old)
* Colossus at the port of Rhodos in Greece (2200 years collapsed by a earthquake)
* Hanging gardens of Babylon in Iraq (2700 years ago)
* Mausoleum at Halicarnassus in Turkey (2350 years ago)
* The lighthouse at Alexandria near the coast of Egypt (+/- 2100 years old)
* The statue of Zeus in Greece at Olympia (2400 years old)
* Temple of Artemis at Efeze in Turkey (2600 years old)

I suppose few of us have visited all if many on the list. I am now going to show my prejudices and make comments on the 21.

I'd be stunned if the Great Pyramid at Giza doesn't make the final 7. And I expect the Taj Mahal will be a sure thing. Others like Angkor and the Great Wall must be strong contenders. Others I'm sure are strong contenders. There are a few that puzzle me. I accept the Iconic nature of the Christ Redeemer statue, Eiffel Tower, Sydney Harbour Opera House and Statue of Liberty but are they really top 7 material?

I was also a bit surprised by Neuschwanstein Castle and I've never heard of the Temples at Timbuktu (so I'll have to find out about them). And am I the only one to find Stonehenge unimpressive?

I daresay something will make the list and have me going you WHAT

If I had to vote on my current knowledge? Great Pyramid of Giza, Angkor, Great Wall, Chichen Itza, Colosseum, Machuu Pichuu, Taj Mahal.

The list in full.

Acropolis
Alhambra
Angkor
Chichen Itza
Christ Redeemer
Colosseum
Easter Island Statues
Eiffel Tower
Great Wall
Hagia Sophia
Kyomizu Temple
Kremlin
Machu Pichu
Neuschwanstein Castle
Petra
Pyramids of Giza
Statue of Liberty

if you want some information about each one go ===> HERE

Oh does anyone have a link to the original 77?
