Asda declares war on the House Sparrow

I appreciate this should be on the wildlife blog but....

The Great Yarmouth branch of Asda has got a licence to shoot two Sparrow holed up in the branch.

I can understand that they want to remove them but they have really tried all options? Bad publicity. Don't think I'll be shopping with Asda soon.

Bloody unbelievable. Yeah, let's kill everything because they are a bit of a nuisance and we can't set proper traps. Be all the same if it was the last pair of birds of a breed before they went extinct I expect. It can't be that difficult surely? These people make me so bloody angry. I'm glad I don't have to worry about boycotting Asda because there isnt one here. I just read some of the links at the bottom of that too about Wyevales having killed three robins. Bastards. If I lived there, I would never buy anything from them again. Jan (your blogger won't let me sign in using my blogger name, bloody stupid thing! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)

>"The sparrows are not wreaking havoc but they do hop around..."

I never realised that 'hopping around' was a crime that carried the death penalty!

Last time I visited our local branch of Homebase, several great tits had taken up residence inside. They were raiding the display of bird feeders, but nobody seemed to be bothered.

I am so disgusted. They have actually shot the sparrows. And did anyone realise they are about to launch sparrow friendly bread called Tweet Wheat or something similar? What disgusting hypocrites. I hope they enjoy their Christmas, the sparrows won't. Everyone - please boycott Asda!
